Hi Neighbors,
This week, Congress is considering another round of coronavirus legislation for small businesses, workers, and families in need of relief. We’re experiencing the largest distribution of taxpayer dollars in our history, so I want to hear from you:
Do you believe taxpayers have a right to know how their money is being spent?

While we’ve managed to help millions of small businesses keep their lights on, millions more remain on the outside looking in. it won’t matter how much money we appropriate if the system distributing it is inaccessible to those who need it the most.
That is why I introduced the TRUTH Act, which directs the Small Business Administration (SBA) to explain and justify the use of coronavirus relief funds, ensuring transparency and accountability. We need to know how the money flows and where it goes.
I’m hearing from so many small business owners in Minnesota who have been left out in the cold, which is why I’m working across the aisle with Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) on common sense reforms to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Our bill, the bipartisan Paycheck Protection Flexibility Act, will help every business – from food trucks to four-star restaurants or music venues – weather the storm and prepare for an unpredictable economic environment.
Are you worried about the survival of small businesses in your neighborhood?

As a taxpayer, entrepreneur, and small business owner myself, I will be relentless in the pursuit of transparency and reforms necessary to ensure these programs work for all who need them to survive. These bills are a beginning, so if you know a small business owner who is struggling to access the coronavirus relief they need, please let them know that I want their feedback. I’ve got their backs, and yours, as we continue to get through this together.
Keep the faith and keep in touch,
Dean Phillips
Member of Congress
