GOP’s Boebert freaks out that Equality Act will establish ‘supremacy of gays, lesbians and transvestites’

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) on Wednesday unleashed an angry tirade against the Equality Act that would make it illegal to discriminate against Americans on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

While appearing on former Trump White House political strategist Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, Boebert insisted that the Equality Act would actually put non-LGBT Americans at a disadvantage compared to their gay and transgender peers.

“There is nothing about equality in that act!” Boebert said, even though the act itself is titled the Equality Act. “If anything, it’s, the, uh, it’s supremacy of gays, lesbians and transvestites. This is what this is about, it’s about putting them higher than anyone else!” Continue reading.

Rep. Lauren Boebert Ripped For Not Understanding Basics Of The Constitution

Huff Post logo

The Republican congresswoman apparently didn’t learn about amendments in her high school civics class.

If you’re a politician who has promised to uphold the Constitution, it might help if you’re actually familiar with what that document includes.

Apparently, freshman Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) isn’t, based on a tweet she posted Friday morning.

Protecting and defending the Constitution doesn’t mean trying to rewrite the parts you don’t like.

Boebert’s tweet was sadly misinformed ― the Constitution was designed to change with changing times, hence the rules for adding amendments. Continue reading.

With guns as backdrop, Boebert opposes committee firearm ban

Colorado Republican asked for a personal security detail if she’s prohibited from carrying firearms into the Natural Resources Committee’s hearing room

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., asked Thursday to be provided a personal security detail if she’s prohibited from carrying firearms into the House Natural Resources Committee’s hearing room.

Boebert had an assortment of guns arrayed on a bookshelf behind her as she spoke during the panel’s virtual meeting to organize for the 117th Congress.

She said the committee’s chairman, Rep. Raul M. Grijalva, D-Ariz., should pay for her security detail personally rather than having taxpayers foot the bill. Continue reading.

U.S. Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN) on Monday identified freshman Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) as the member of Congress who gave a “large tour” in the days before the January 6 Capitol insurrection.

“We saw Congressman Boebert taking a group of people for a tour sometime after the 3rd and before the 6th,” Rep. Cohen told CNN late Monday morning, adding that “she had a large group with her.”

“She’s not on the home team,” Cohen said. Continue reading.

Scoop: Comms director for gun-toting congresswoman quits

Axios logo

The communications director for Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, a firebrand Republican freshman who boasts about carrying a gun to work, has quit after less than two weeks on the job.

Why it matters: Ben Goldey’s resignation cited last week’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, which came amid efforts by Boebert and other Republican lawmakers to block certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory. Her rhetoric on the issue mirrored President Trump’s, which has fueled baseless election conspiracy theories and resulting violence.

What we’re hearing: Goldey said in a statement to Axios: “Following the events of January 6th, I’ve decided to part ways with the office. I wish her and the people of Colorado’s Third District the best.” Continue reading.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), a gun-toting supporter of the QAnon movement, is facing backlash after she was accused of live-tweeting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) location during the attack on Capitol Hill last week.

Boebert shared the tweet soon after President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol with deadly results.

“The Speaker has been removed from the chambers,” Boebert wrote. Continue reading.
