Jake Tapper Shoots Down Larry Kudlow For Claiming U.S. Is ‘Safely’ Living With COVID-19

“We’re not learning to live with the virus, Larry,” the CNN host said, pointing out 50,000 new infections daily in the nation.

CNN’s Jake Tapper scoffed at a claim by White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow Sunday that America is learning to deal with the coronavirus in a “targeted, safe, preventive way.”

Tapper told Kudlow to stick to what he knows — money.

“We’re not learning to live with the virus, Larry,” an incredulous Tapper said on “State of the Union.”

“We just had four days in a row of more than 50,000 infections,” he continued. “The death rate is the highest in the world.” Continue reading.

Jake Tapper Abruptly Ends Interview With Trump Aide: ‘Just Answer The Question’

The CNN host asked White House trade adviser Peter Navarro why the president misled the public on the coronavirus. It didn’t go well.

CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday abruptly ended an interview with White House trade adviser Peter Navarro following a tense exchange about President Donald Trump’s decision to initially downplay the threat of the coronavirus.

During a segment on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Tapper asked Navarro to discuss a Feb. 7 recording with journalist Bob Woodward, released last week, in which Trump said the virus is five times deadlier than the flu.

In the weeks following the recorded conversation, Trump continued to hold large rallies despite knowing the virus was airborne and deadly. On Feb. 26, he told reporters that the flu was more dangerous than the coronavirus. Continue reading.

Jake Tapper: ‘Trump Stands With Dead, Racist Losers’ by Honoring Confederate Commanders

“It does not take much moral clarity to understand that a good place to start would be for the United States to stop honoring traitors and terrorists,” the host said

Once again, President Trump has decided to stand with racism and align himself with America’s racist history. With protests sparked nationwide by racist police brutality, a new effort has begun to rename U.S. military bases that are named after confederate officers, but the current president won’t consider the issue. He instead says the movement disrespects the country’s “history as the Greatest Nation in the World.”

This week Trump tweeted, “My Administration will not even consider the renaming of these Magnificent and Fabled Military Installations. Our history as the Greatest Nation in the World will not be tampered with. Respect our Military!”

On Sunday, CNN’s Jake Tapper blasted Trump on the topic. The host first spoke about the lengthy list of military leaders who have recently criticized Trump’s divisiveness during a time of national unrest. He then contrasted that with how the president has lashed out against them while cuddling up to the “traitors” and “losers” of America’s past. Continue reading.

CNN’s Tapper artfully exposes GOP rep’s hypocrisy for attacking Biden while supporting Trump: ‘Either there’s a principle — or there isn’t’

AlterNet logoCNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday cornered Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) over Donald Trump’s wild accusations about Joe Biden’s son, noting that the president’s own children are engaging in foreign business “all over the world” as their father sits in the Oval Office.

Jordan and Tapper were discussing the impeachment inquiry into Trump when Jordan launched a barrage of allegations about Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. The Republican congressman also accused Tapper of engaging in “mental gymnastics” to protect Biden.

“Sir, it’s not gymnastics, it’s facts,” Tapper replied. “And I would think somebody who’s been accused of things in the last year or two would be more sensitive about throwing out wild allegations against people.” (In July, Jordan was named in a lawsuit  on behalf of former Ohio State University athletes who claimed the former assistant wrestling coach failed to prevent sexual abuse carried out by a university doctor).

The unsupported claim that James Clapper tipped Jake Tapper about the dossier

The following article by Glenn Kessler was posted on the Washington Post website May 3, 2018:

Conservative news outlets have theorized that former director of national intelligence James Clapper lied to Congress about his communications with Tapper. (Meg Kelly/The Washington Post)

“It’s an incredible development. Now, the Intel Committee’s report found that Clapper, quote, admitted to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in private testimony that he briefed CNN’s Jake Tapper in early January of 2017. This was shortly before Trump’s inauguration. Tapper along with two other journalists, so-called journalists from CNN, published a report detailing how Trump was briefed about the Steele dossier. And then a short time later, James Clapper, oh, he’s hired by fake news CNN as an analyst. You connect the dots.”
— Sean Hannity, on his Fox News television show, April 30, 2018

Reporters often try to connect the dots. But sometimes, dots can’t really be connected – or they are misplaced.

Rush to defend Trump from book’s claims creates more debate

The following article by Mallory Shelbourne was posted on the Hill website January 7, 2018:

Trump administration officials on Sunday are playing defense for their boss against shocking allegations reported in a new book detailing the first year of Trump’s presidency.

Multiple individuals close to President Trump hit the Sunday show circuit, including two Cabinet officials, but White House policy adviser Stephen Miller became the talk of the morning after Jake Tapper abruptly cut off a contentious interview with the Trump aide during CNN’s “State of the Union.” Continue reading “Rush to defend Trump from book’s claims creates more debate”
