CEO makes video owning Fox News after they called him a socialist and predicted his company would fail

Raw Story Logo

Six years ago, CEO Dan Price revealed that he would raise the minimum salary of employees in his company to $70,000 a year. Right-wing media at Fox News and Fox Business laughed at him, mocked him, called him a socialist, and predicted that his company would fail and his staff would be on the bread line in short order. It was Dan Price who got the last laugh.

Doing a round of interviews, Price revealed that not only has his company not failed, it has flourished. The company, which handles credit card processing, has grown from doing $3 billion to $10 billion, he said, tripling their revenue.

Further, Price said that it’s been a huge help to his staff. People bought their first homes, they put more money into their 401(k) accounts, they began having children, and turnover for the company dropped in half. Continue reading.

Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch Defends White Nationalist Tucker Carlson

National Memo logo

Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch is defending Tucker Carlson’s April 8 segment promoting the white supremacist “replacement” conspiracy theory after the Anti-Defamation League’s chief executive, Jonathan Greenblatt, called for Carlson to be fired.

Over the weekend, Greenblatt appeared on CNN to explain how the Murdochs, Fox’s board, and its advertisers enable Carlson to push white nationalist conspiracy theories on Fox News’ prime time.

According to CNN, Murdoch “dismissed the Anti-Defamation League’s demand that the company fire host Tucker Carlson, telling the organization in a letter that his company saw no problem with comments Carlson made about the racist ‘great replacement’ theory.” Continue reading.

Smartmatic says disinformation on Fox News about the election was ‘no accident.’

New York Times logo

The election technology company Smartmatic pushed back on Monday against Fox News’s argument that it had covered the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election responsibly, stating that Fox anchors had played along as guests pushed election-related conspiracy theories.

“The First Amendment does not provide the Fox defendants a get-out-of-jail-free card,” Smartmatic’s lawyer, J. Erik Connolly, wrote in a brief filed in New York State Supreme Court. “The Fox defendants do not get a do-over with their reporting now that they have been sued.”

The brief came in response to motions filed by Fox Corporation and three current and former Fox hosts — Maria Bartiromo, Jeanine Pirro and Lou Dobbs — to dismiss a Smartmatic lawsuit accusing them of defamation. Continue reading.

ADL president and CNN’s Brian Stelter agree: Tucker Carlson reached a ‘new low’ by promoting a White supremacist conspiracy theory

AlterNet Logo

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson has been even more controversial than usual lately, promoting the racist Replacement Theory on his show and expressing sympathy for the violent mob that assaulted the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6 — and Anti-Defamation League National Director Jonathan Greenblatt is calling for Fox News to fire him. During an appearance on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” Greenblatt and host Brian Stelter agreed: Carlson is out of control.

A conspiracy theory that is popular among White supremacists and White nationalists, the Replacement Theory claims that liberals and progressives are trying to “replace” Whites with non-Whites by bringing them in from developing countries. Carlson, on his April 8 broadcast, claimed that “the Democratic Party is trying to replace the current electorate” with “new people, more obedient voters from the Third World.”

Stelter acknowledged that it is most unlikely that Fox News will fire Carlson, whose “Tucker Carlson Tonight” has been getting even higher ratings than colleague Sean Hannity’s show. But he stressed that Carlson reached a “new low” by promoting a conspiracy theory associated with White supremacist and White nationalist ideology. Continue reading.

Mike Pompeo Is Now on the Fox News Payroll—Because of Course

The former secretary of state joins the list of ex-Trump officials and family members to hop onto Fox’s contributor roster

Yet another member of Team Trump has joined Fox News.

The conservative cable network announced Thursday that it has signed ex-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as a paid on-air contributor. Pompeo is scheduled to make his first appearance as a network employee on Friday’s broadcast of Fox & Friends.

Tucker Carlson Goes Full Revisionist On The U.S. Capitol Riot

Huff Post logo

The Fox News personality’s reality-denying spin on the deadly insurrection was slammed as “gaslighting garbage.”

Tucker Carlson struck a snide tone on Tuesday night to downplay the U.S. Capitol riot on the three-month anniversary of the deadly insurrection.

The Fox News personality attempted to spin the narrative on the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol by supporters of Donald Trump — who were incited by the then-president ― as just “a mob of older people from unfashionable zip codes” protesting mass voter fraud in the 2020 election.

Carlson’s characterization of the violence contradicts videos showing the maurading mob. Five people, including a U.S. Capitol police officer, died. Trump supporters were caught on camera screaming, “Hang Mike Pence!” and stalked progressive lawmakers. Continue reading.

Fox News throws GOP leader’s attacks on Eric Swalwell back in his face amid Matt Gaetz sex trafficking probe

Raw Story Logo

Fox News host Dana Perino on Wednesday put House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on the hot seat over revelations that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is being probed by the FBI for potential sex trafficking charges.

While appearing on Fox News, McCarthy was reminded by Perino of his past statements that Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) should be removed from the House Intelligence Committee after revelations that a suspected Chinese spy had infiltrated his office.

“So by that same logic, will you take any action to remove Matt Gaetz from the Judiciary Committee while he’s under investigation by the DOJ over whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him?” she asked. Continue reading.

Trump politely cut off during Fox News rant: ‘I know your time is valuable’

Raw Story Logo

Only forty-eight hours after Donald Trump admitted to Fox News that he has a lot more free time after being banned from Twitter, a host on the same network invoked his “valuable time” to end an interview as the former president ranted about the destruction of America.

“Do you feel like you have a lot more time on your hands without being on Twitter so much?” Laura Ingraham asked on Thursday.

“Actually, I do,” Trump replied. Actually, I do, it’s very true.” Continue reading.

Fox News reporter complains Biden doesn’t take his outlet’s questions — and Jen Psaki sets him straight

AlterNet logo

During Joe Biden’s two months as president, Fox News’ Peter Doocy has been a fixture at White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s news conferences — and she has been much more polite with him than former President Donald Trump’s press secretaries typically were with CNN reporters. But during a press briefing on Friday, Doocy claimed that Biden was marginalizing Fox News — and Psaki politely but firmly set him straight.

Doocy, the 33-year-old son of Fox News’ Steve Doocy, claimed, “Any time that the president has an event where he is given a list of reporters to call on, Fox is the only member of the five-network TV pool that has never been on the list in front of the president. And I’m just curious if that is an official administration policy.”

Psaki, who has taken questions from Doocy many times, responded, with a smile, “We’re here having a conversation, aren’t we? And do I take questions from you every time you come to the briefing room? Has the president taken questions from you since he came into office, yes or no?” Continue reading.

Dominion files $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News

Axios logo

Dominion Voting Systems filed a defamation lawsuit on Friday seeking $1.6 billion in damages against Fox News, arguing that the network knowingly spread misinformation about the company’s role in nonexistent voter fraud.

Why it matters: This is the first time Dominion has sued a media company in its efforts to collect billions in damages from pro-Trump figures who have pushed baseless conspiracy theories about its voting machines.

  • Dominion has previously sued Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell, and the pro-Trump MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell. All have appeared as guests on Fox News. Continue reading.
