Education Committee Meets to Discuss Special Education
In mid-July, the Senate Education Policy Committee held its first meeting since session ended to discuss how we can improve our state’s special education programs. We heard a recap from the legislative auditor on a report they did back in 2013, and on the progress they have observed in the time since then. It was an incredibly informative meeting, and I am grateful to have so many experts who are willing to help us serve our state as best we can.
Touring the Science Museum
July also presented me with an opportunity to take a tour of the Science Museum, and observe their use of our state’s Legacy funds. I even got to tour their vault, where they store everything from fossils that are millions of years old to a strange piece of corn where each kernel has its own husk.
I was joined on the tour by a former student of mine, Amy Nelson, who is now the museum’s Director of Mission Engagement. This place is truly amazing, and I am grateful that our taxpayer dollars are being put to good use by such amazing individuals.
Making My First Appearance on Between the Lines
Two weeks ago, I had the chance to appear on Between the Lines, a monthly political program hosted by Al Travis and produced by students at Bethany University. We had a great conversation in the Historic Governor’s Dining Room getting to know each other and discussing a wide range of issues. You can check out the full interview by clicking HERE.
