Vaccines
The Minneapolis VA has expanded vaccine appointments for this weekend (January 23 & 24), Veterans who are eligible for VA Health Care and are 75 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER who have not already scheduled COVID vaccine appointments should call (612) 467-1100 or toll free at 1-866-414-5058 to schedule their first appointment for this weekend.
The VA is offering vaccines only to eligible enrolled Veterans in current priority groups. It will continue to expand the list of eligible enrolled Veterans who are actively invited to schedule appointments.
Enrolled Veterans who do not meet current criteria are strongly encouraged to document their interests in being vaccinated at the VA medical center.
Veterans who are interested in receiving care at the VA but are not yet enrolled should visit: https://www.va.gov/health…/apply/application/introduction
Governor Walz’s Executive Powers
For the last 11 months Governor Tim Walz has continued to extend the state’s peacetime emergency to help the state “take swift action to protect the health and well-being of our communities, families, and businesses” in response to COVID-19. Today Representative Gene Pelowski (DFL-Winona) convened his first hearing of the House Subcommittee on Legislative Process Reform. Their goal is to find a path for an end of the peacetime emergency while maintaining the ability to respond effectively to the pandemic and keep Minnesotans healthy.
I applaud the efforts of Representative Pelowski and this committee. The Governor and the Legislature need to get back to being co-equal branches of government. Also, as the only split legislature in the country, Minnesota needs to be the example of bipartisanship.
