The event will include an explanation of the meaning of Ramadan, showcase Muslim organizations that continue to do amazing work for Minnesotans of all ages in spite of the circumstances, and breaking the daily fast together. Attendees will have the option of showcasing their meal.
“Ramadan is the month of spiritual gains and family togetherness,” said Rep. Hassan. “We normally spend this month with family, friends, and neighbors to break bread with and to come together as one community. Because of Covid-19 we can’t physically get together, but we can connect virtually to continue the tradition of togetherness.”
“This is a year like no other, as COVID-19 changes our long-held traditions,” said Rep. Noor. “We cannot be together, but we look forward to joining each other next year for a joyous celebration. We really appreciate everyone who stepped up in this difficult time by donating to food banks, supporting local businesses or checking up on our neighbors.”
“This is a great opportunity to celebrate the last few days of Ramadan with Minnesotans,” said Majority Leader Winkler. “While we can’t come together in person, this is a way to connect with our Muslim brothers and sisters and join them in celebrating this holy time. Ramadan Mubarak!”
