Rep. Patty Acomb (HD44B) Update: September 24, 2019

Dear Neighbors,

Climate change is one of the top issues that I hear about from fellow community members. Minnesotans of all ages are organizing in their communities and urging legislators to take action, but young people are particularly engaged on this issue. As a new member of the House, I was struck by how many students came to the Capitol time and time again last session.

On Friday, thousands of Minnesotans came to the Capitol for the Youth Climate Strike! Many more participated in student-led demonstrations across the state and around the world.

My colleagues and I want young Minnesotans to know that we hear them, and we stand with them. Many of us came to the Youth Climate Strike in solidarity.

Rep. Hunter Cantrell, Rep. Jean Wagenius, Rep. Frank Hornstein, Rep. Mike Freiberg, and I preparing to march to the Capitol.

My sons also participated in the Youth Climate Strike.

To show our support, my colleagues and I formed a Climate Action Caucus! This dedicated group of legislators will work with Minnesotans to create a bold, comprehensive plan to address the climate crisis. We shared this exciting news at a press conference last Thursday. If you’d like to learn more about the new caucus, you can watch the announcement here.

Students who helped organize the Youth Climate Strike in Minnesota joined us to launch the new caucus.

I’m honored to share that I was chosen to serve as Chair of the Climate Action Caucus! I look forward to working with Minnesotans to secure a future in which we all thrive. Please stay tuned for updates.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or input related to the climate crisis or other issues that are important to you.

Sincerely,

Patty Acomb
State Representative
