Neighbors,
I hope you’re having a great summer! I wanted to let you know about an opportunity to share your questions and reactions to the legislative session – join Rep. Vang, Sen. Eaton and me for a town hall on Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to noon. All are welcome to join!
Here’s a quick update from the Capitol:
The Governor has been highlighting several bills we passed as part of our two-year state budget with ceremonial signings. Included in those were two bills I worked on. The first bill will create a day to honor the Hmong soldiers who fought alongside the U.S. in the Secret War during the Vietnam War. Those who have fought, sacrificed, and died for our nation deserve a day of recognition, which will be May 14th.
Gov. Walz signs bill creating day to honor Hmong soldiers
The second bill will help us prepare for the upcoming 2020 census so we can ensure that each of us is counted and that Minnesota is fully represented by our federal government. A complete census count will help ensure Minnesota gets the appropriate resources for our population and needs. Please continue to reach out with your thoughts and questions. I enjoy hearing from you, and hope to see you on the 29th!
Sincerely,
Rep. Michael V. Nelson
