Rep. Michael Nelson (HD40A) Update: April 3, 2020

Neighbors,

I hope you’re staying healthy and staying home. I know the “Stay at Home” order is a challenge, but I want to thank the vast majority of our community that is doing a remarkable job in doing their part. We’re buying time for our health care professionals to properly prepare for and respond to COVID-19, and in the end we’re saving lives.

Today, Governor Walz gave a transparent and data-driven update of where we currently are in Minnesota. There’s plenty of good news, but he also didn’t pull any punches of what’s at stake. It’s a very honest presentation of what Minnesota needs, and you can watch it here.

Governor Walz also launched a newly created website focused solely on consolidating the information and resources available to Minnesotans on COVID-19. The most recent data, best practices, FAQs, and more can be found at https://mn.gov/covid19/.

Be sure to tune in Sunday as Governor Walz delivers his State of the State Address. It’ll be broadcast on Youtube and local news at 7:00 PM, April 5.

SOTS
2020 US Census

The news has been filled with events that are being either postponed or canceled, but one thing that will soldier on this year is the U.S. Census. Yes, there have been changes made in response to COVID-19, but most of them are related to making it easier for our community to self-respond.

By now, you should have received information in the mail on how to complete the Census. If you haven’t done so already, I recommend completing it this weekend. It shouldn’t take longer than five minutes.

An accurate Census is incredibly important for ensuring our community receives the representation and resources it deserves. You can find more information at my2020Census.gov, or by calling their offices at (844) 330-2020. Non-English phone options are available here.

Stay Connected

I’ll update our community as we continue our efforts in the legislature and receive information from Governor Walz and the Minnesota Depart of Health. If you have any questions about our efforts or resources that are available, please feel free to contact me at (651) 296-3751 or rep.michael.nelson@house.mn.

Sincerely,

Rep. Michael V. Nelson
