Dear Friend,
I want to make sure you know what I’ve been up to after another week in Minnesota. We’re enjoying the best time of year — the weather is beautiful, the Twins are in first place, and the State Fair continues to brighten our days and bring our community together. Here’s a snapshot of my week:
CELEBRATING MINNESOTA AT THE STATE FAIR
We are fortunate to live in the most extraordinary state in the nation, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than seeing so many friends and neighbors at our State Fair. I’ve spent many days here having conversations with Minnesotans, listening to your thoughts and concerns, and sharing good times and great food. I’ve had enough corn on the cob and turkey sandwiches to last me a lifetime — and I’m hearing from you about the need for Congress to move past partisan bickering and take meaningful action on so many issues. I’m dedicating my time in Congress to restoring your trust in our government, and that means we need reform. We need to stop the tug-of-war between the will of voters and the demands of big special interests, and we need to create ways for members of both parties to work together again. I’m inspired by my time with all of you and look forward to hitting the ground running on bipartisan solutions when Congress returns to session in September.

PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT
I was pleased to meet with 100 advocates from the Sierra Club to discuss the work we’re doing in Congress to protect our natural environment. We discussed the threat climate change poses to Minnesota, and the importance of H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act which the House passed earlier this year. We also talked about clean energy and innovative solutions to the climate crisis. The lack of action from the Senate and Executive Branch on climate change is inexcusable, and I’m committed to reasonable, economically viable solutions that will give the next generation a safe and sustainable future.
It was great to join so many passionate advocates from the Sierra Club.
“THIS IS DEAN PHILLIPS – THANKS FOR CALLING MY OFFICE”
I always say that representation begins with listening, and I mean it! When I can, I take the time to answer your questions directly, and that means joining my staff to answer your phone calls and listen to you. This week, I had some great conversations about the need to restore trust in government, prevent gun violence, and fight climate change. If you have an opinion, thought, or idea you want to share with me, or if there is anything my office can assist you with, please give us a call at (952) 656-5176.
I love hearing from you — and was pleased to take some of your phone calls this week.
There’s nothing like meeting with you in person, so I cordially invite you to attend my next town hall meeting in Chanhassen on September 7th. Please come ready to ask me anything you wish, and I look forward to a productive and thoughtful discussion.
Keep the faith and keep in touch,
Dean Phillips
Member of Congress
