The following email from Angie Holan, the PolitiFact Editor:
“Radical Islamic terrorists are determined to strike our homeland as they did on 9/11, as they did from Boston to Orlando, to San Bernardino and all across Europe,” Trump said. “You’ve seen what happened in Paris and Nice. All over Europe, it’s happening. It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported, and in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons, and you understand that.”
That didn’t jibe with our memory of a good bit of coverage of those attacks. So we researched Trump’s claim about consulted with terrorism experts about media coverage. Our verdict: Pants on Fire.
Trump’s counselor Kellyanne Conway also had accuracy problems last week about terrorism when she defended Trump’s executive order barring travel. She wrongly referred to a “Bowling Green massacre,” which she said was not covered by the media. We took a closer look and found that there was no massacre, and what actually happened was in fact covered the media. We rated her statement False.
