Paulsen is on the take, torn between constituents and PACs

To the Editor:

The serenity prayer is a popular prayer and, in the case of this upcoming election, it is more relevant than I can imagine.

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can…”

I am an army veteran. I fought for my democracy in 1970 and I am doing it now as a citizen. The democracy the Republicans have painted for us now is not the democracy I fought for. Stand up for it. Others will follow. Democracy is not free.

Voting is not enough if you are uninformed. Depending on how you feel (red or blue) that day, that’s how you are going to vote. We still have time and our voices matter. Change the unacceptable!

Red and blue don’t need to be divided. We need to focus our attention on mutuality. We don’t have time to waste. Elect representatives who represent us.

When we finally decide to vote as an informed voter, we sometimes find the cows got out of the barn. Don’t be too late to close the barn door. We slept through it in 2016. Democracy is too delicate to take a hit like that again. Nov. 6 is coming up! Inform yourselves on who will best represent us and put constituents first. Vote to get corporations and money out of democracy. Avoid politicians who spread alternative facts. Erik Paulsen, we are talking about you.

When I talk about being informed, we need to know who candidates are and study their character. If Paulsen doesn’t respect constituents, he won’t respect you.

In my case, I believe my U.S. House Representative is on the take. We are not receiving good representation because of what Erik Paulsen does and doesn’t do. Erik seems torn between his constituents and PACs. It does not take a rocket scientist to know he will not represent us. Have the courage to change the things you can.

Please wake up. Pay attention to mainstream media. Change the unacceptable!
