He Called FBI Agents Nazis. The Feds Just Arrested Him For Storming The Capitol.

In multiple tweets, Adam Weibling defended the Capitol riot and described its participants as “patriots” and “brave.”

Adam Weibling, a 38-year-old Texas man, made no secret in recent months of his contempt for the FBI, likening its agents to Nazis and “terrorists” in a series of conspiracy-laden tweets. His dislike for them surely grew on Tuesday when they arrested him for storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

FBI agents arrested Weibling in Katy, Texas, on charges of unlawfully entering restricted grounds and engaging in disorderly conduct inside the Capitol, according to court records. His first virtual appearance in D.C. court is scheduled for June 3.

According to an affidavit filed May 19 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and signed by an FBI task force officer, Weibling can be seen in video recorded by a reporter pushing his way past police in riot gear to get inside the Capitol around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 6.

Fact-check busts Republicans for wrongly blaming rising gas and lumber prices on Biden

AlterNet Logo

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and other Republicans are blaming President Joe Biden for rising gas and lumber prices in the United States. But Associated Press reporters Christopher Rugaber and Hope Yen fact-check those claims in an article published on May 26, pointing out why their claims are misleading.

“Gas prices have risen in recent weeks because a key pipeline was forced to close after a cyberattack,” Rugaber and Yen explain. “And lumber shortages — which existed during former President Donald Trump’s administration — were worsened by an unexpected housing boom.”

The AP reporters go on to analyze some of McCarthy’s recent statements. Continue reading.

By the Numbers: Making the Expanded Child Tax Credit Permanent Would Help Thousands of Minnesota Families

DFL Logo

MINNESOTA — The historic expansion of the Child Tax Credit passed by Democrats in Congress and without the support of a single Minnesota Republican will substantially reduce poverty for about 43,000 children in Minnesota. Now, President Biden and congressional Democrats are poised to make this life-changing provision permanent with the passage of the American Families Plan.

Right now, the program is only written to last through the end of 2021. The American Families Plan would make the expanded Child Tax Credit available for at least the next four years, locking in these benefits for years to come. The numbers below help to show what passing the American Families Plan and making the expanded child tax credit permanent would mean for Minnesota families:

Governor Walz Calls for Moment of Silence to Honor George Floyd on One Year Anniversary of His Death

Governor Walz issued a proclamation asking Minnesotans for a moment of silence at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 for 9 minutes and 29 seconds to honor George Floyd on the one year anniversary of his death. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was murdered by Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“George Floyd’s murder ignited a global movement and awakened many Minnesotans and people around the world to the systemic racism that our Black communities, Indigenous communities, and communities of color have known for centuries,” reads the proclamation issued by Governor Walz. “On April 20, 2021, a jury found Derek Chauvin guilty of George Floyd’s murder. This historic verdict was a step in the right direction, but our work to dismantle systematic racism and discrimination has not ended. True justice for George Floyd will come only through real, systemic change to prevent acts like this from happening again—when every member of every community, no matter their race, is safe, valued, and protected.”

Rep. Michael Nelson (HD40A) Update: May 28, 2021

Nelson Banner

Neighbors,

Though the regular legislative session adjourned last week, we’re still focused on finalizing our state budget. Before we adjourned, we were able to reach a bipartisan agreement on a budget framework, so now we’ll hammer out the details ahead of an anticipated June special session.

The good news is that the state is on the right path to ensure our students, families, workers, and small businesses get the investments they need to bounce back from the past year – thanks in part to the federal funds we received from the American Rescue Plan.

Rep. Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn (HD48B) Update: May 28, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

While the regular legislative session adjourned last week, my colleagues and I are still advocating for budgetary allocations for the issues most important to you – like healthcare, childcare, and public education. Although we were able to reach a bipartisan agreement on our budget framework before adjourning, the finer details of our budget continue to be negotiated. Right now, we’re looking at a June special session to pass our final budget.

Thanks in large part to the American Rescue Plan passed by the Democrats in Congress and signed into law by President Biden, Minnesota will have the resources to help those hit hardest by the pandemic. House DFLers are fighting for students, families, workers, and small businesses. We will be spending these next few weeks working with the Senate to ensure that as our state recovers, we don’t leave any Minnesotans behind.

Trump supporter who threatened Pelosi goes down in flames after telling judge he was ‘just having fun’

Raw Story Logo

A judge leveled a Donald Trump supporter who allegedly brought guns to Washington, D.C., and threatened to kill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Cleveland Meredith made threats against specific elected officials online and drove from Colorado with a Glock 19, 9mm pistol, Taver X95 rifle with a telescopic sight, high-capacity magazines and more than 2,500 rounds of ammunition, but arrived too late to take part in the Jan. 6 insurrection, according to charging documents flagged by Buzzfeed’s Zoe Tillman.

“Hauling ass, 3.5 hours from target practice,” he said in one message, according to prosecutors. “Ready to remove several craniums from shoulders. I’m gonna collect a sh*t ton of Traitors heads.” Continue reading.
