After waiting for seven years, I received notice that my U.S. representative, Erik Paulsen, was finally going to hold a town hall meeting.
I was excited to attend and learn what my representative and other constituents cared about in my community. I responded right away and blocked time on my calendar. I made myself available for both the Chanhassen and Brooklyn Park meeting.
I was surprised to get put on the wait list since I signed up so early, but I was sure I would be there. Sadly, I was not one of the chosen few. Apparently everyone was put on a wait list and then a chosen few were selected to get a golden seat.
When I thought that I might have to wait another seven years to maybe, possibly, perchance get this opportunity again, I was distressed. Then I remembered that I only need wait until November.
Our new representative has promised two town halls (real, actual, all-inclusive town halls) per year. Our voices will matter.
