SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA – Below, the Minnesota DFL Party has collected reactions from the Minnesota delegation to the third night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention:
“My favorite moment from tonight was hearing Kamala Harris talk about her cultural roots, and how they are foundational to her values and the work she does. As an immigrant of South Asian descent, I saw myself on that stage tonight, I saw my daughter, my granddaughters, and my great granddaughters. This moment was historic for women and girls of color across our country, and we will never forget it.”
– Shivanthi Sathanandan from Minneapolis, Minnesota
“It was great to see so many empowering women highlighted at the convention tonight! From celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, to Hillary and Kamala, it was a night to celebrate all of the women fighting to obtain higher positions in government!
“Kamala Harris’s speech gave viewers a window into her life story, as well as her vision for the future. She had a well thought out plan for what she could offer our country as Vice President. I couldn’t have been more pleased or proud to welcome her as our new nominee as Vice President of the United States of America.”
– Elizabeth Rose Hansel from Roseville, Minnesota
“President Obama’s speech was historic – unlike anything we have seen before. It was even more powerful since there was no crowd reaction. He clearly outlined what is at stake in November’s election and why we must vote!”
– Jerry Gale from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota
“I thought tonight’s convention was very inspiring as we looked to the future and heard powerful, personal stories from Americans on the real issues, issues affecting each and every one of us. As a young person I was happy to see climate change a focal point of tonight’s programming.”
– Sami Banat from Saint Paul, Minnesota
“Tonight’s program was a step above anything I’ve seen up to this point. From President Obama’s startling warning about what’s at stake in this election to Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris making history, it was something I won’t easily forget.
“I personally loved hearing President Obama’s take on what’s happening right now and his encouraging words for the next generation. He said Black Lives Matter and he said it clearly. In turn, he raised up those who are on the ground doing the work to fight for justice and equality.”
– Ceri Everett from Red Wing, Minnesota
