Rep. Edelson Banner

Dear Neighbors,

As summer approaches, we can more clearly see the light at the end of the tunnel and a return to enjoy Minnesota without COVID-19 related restrictions. While we continue to make speedy progress with the vaccine distribution plan, I hope you stay safe and in line to receive yours.

As of March 21st, exactly 1,437,931 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 854,827 people have completed both doses of vaccine that are required for the vaccine’s maximum effect.

On Thursday, Governor Walz announced Minnesota has administered more than two million COVID-19 vaccine doses. While it took more than two months for the state to administer the first million doses, it took less than one month to administer the second million doses.

A weekly message from your Senator

Dear Constituents and Friends,

This week Governor Walz announced that over 70% of Minnesotans age 65 and older weeks have been vaccinated. This means that more Minnesotans are now eligible to receive the COVID-19. Due to an increase in vaccine supply, Minnesotans in phases 1b and 1c are now eligible to receive the vaccine.

Who's Eligible for Vaccine Now

I recommend signing up for the Vaccine Connector. Also talk to your local health providers or workplace management to see if the current availability to get the vaccine.

Dear Neighbors,

Spring has arrived in Minnesota! As the weather warms and the snow melts— you can feel hope in the air. This Spring signals the beginning of our pathway out of this pandemic. While more and more vaccines are being administered every week, I hope you and your loved ones are able to monitor eligibility and available appointments. If you are experiencing issues with access and are in a qualified group, please be sure to contact me at rep.heather.edelson@house.mn.

Currently, 1,129,967 of Minnesotans have received their first dose of the vaccine, and 642,701 individuals have completed the vaccine series. Each week we are making more progress on this front as we expand eligibility.

Minnesota Vaccine Distribution Update

We received great news earlier this week: Minnesota was able to expand vaccine eligibility on Wednesday, March 10 as the state reaches its goal of vaccinating 70% of Minnesotans 65 years of age and older. At our current pace, Minnesota is now several weeks ahead of schedule. More than 1.8 million Minnesotans are newly eligible to receive a vaccine .

Rep. Steve Elkins (HD49B) Update: March 9, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

I hope you have been able to get outdoors and enjoy this early taste of spring! I was able to head out for a stroll along Nine Mile Creek in Bloomington on Sunday afternoon and the sound of running water was rejuvenating! Our days are getting brighter both literally and figuratively.

Vaccination Update

Minnesota was recently ranked 3rd in our ability to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine. This week, we reached an important milestone in our fight against COVID-19; 70% of Minnesotans 65 years of age and older have officially been vaccinated! We had initially hoped to reach this goal by the end of March, but thanks to an increased supply from the federal government we have been able to speed things up. As a result, the state will expand eligibility to the next two phases of Minnesotans at once, starting Wednesday. Providers have been directed to prioritize people in the first of these phases, which includes Minnesotans with specific underlying health conditions; food processing plant workers; and Minnesotans with rare conditions or disabilities that put them at higher risk of severe illness. Providers will then have the flexibility to provide available appointments to other eligible Minnesotans. You can stay up to date on our stats on the State’s Vaccine Dashboard.

More than 1.8 million Minnesotans will become eligible to receive a vaccine beginning this week including:

Dear Constituents and Friends,

This week marks a year since Minnesota had its first confirmed case of COVID-19. The way we live our lives has changed significantly since March of 2020. As of today, 58.2% of Minnesotans ages 65+ have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. On March 3, we reached 1,498,369 doses of the vaccine administered. 975,781 Minnesotans had received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 516,422 having completed a full vaccine series. Minnesota ranks third in the nation in the percentage of vaccine doses received being administered.

Dear Neighbors,

Minnesota has made hard-fought progress to overcome COVID-19. Cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are all trending downward, and our vaccination process is improving as the vaccine supply increases.

As of Tuesday, March 2nd, 948,127 Minnesotans have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 500,188 have completed the series.

Minnesota is already a national leader in getting shots into arms. As of Wednesday, the Centers for Disease Control ranks Minnesota 3rd among states for the percentage of doses received that have been administered.

Thoughts on Senate File 1

A weekly message from your Senator

Dear Constituents and Friends,

There have been many questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and availability, so this week we wanted to answer some frequently asked questions.

Q: Governor Walz said we will move onto the next priority group, but I am 65+ and have not received my vaccine yet. What is going on?

Rep. Heather Edelson (HD49A) Update: September 26, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

As of February 23, approximately 1,169,470 people have been vaccinated state-wide. While the increase in speed of distribution is heading in a hopeful direction, we need to continue to follow public health guidelines and hold out a little bit longer to ensure the safety of our neighbors. This week, I want to provide you with some answers about the COVID-19 vaccine distribution process in Minnesota, and connect you with some resources that may be helpful to you.

Right now, federal officials are sending states a very limited supply of vaccine. That is why we have to take a phased approach and give the first doses of vaccine to populations where we can have the greatest impact on health. Those priority populations were identified by the federal government. The graphic below breaks down the logistics of the process in a more visually digestive way.
