SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA — The joint House/Senate Conference Committee tasked with developing a compromise state Jobs and Energy budget will meet this afternoon at 12:30 p.m. in Room 10 of the State Office Building. The public hearing, to be chaired by Rep. Jean Wagenius (DFL – Minneapolis), will include an overview of the energy portion of the legislation and a review of the funding differences. Paul Douglas, a nationally-respected meteorologist, will provide testimony.
WHAT: Public hearing of the Jobs and Energy Conference Committee on HF 2208
WHO: Rep. Jean Wagenius (DFL – Minneapolis), committee members
WHERE: Room 10, State Office Building
WHEN: Monday, May 6 at 12:30 PM
The House DFL Energy budget would help Minnesota address the impacts of climate change and reduce carbon dioxide emissions to prevent further consequences. It sets Minnesota on a path to achieve 100 percent clean energy by 2050, helps schools and colleges transition to clean energy sources, and supports electric transportation.
While the House DFL plan would create thousands of clean energy jobs in Minnesota, the Senate Republican Energy budget would keep Minnesota dependent on fossil fuels from other states and fails to adequately address the threat of climate change.
