Howard Stern says the presidency will damage Donald Trump‘s mental health because he just ‘wants to be loved’.

The radio host said on his show on Wednesday that he does not believe it will be a ‘healthy experience’ for Trump.

The 63-year-old is an old friend of the President and has invited him onto his show a number of times.

Speaking on his show, Stern said: ‘I personally wish that he had never run, I told him that, because I actually think this is something that is gonna be detrimental to his mental health too, because, he wants to be liked, he wants to be loved.

‘He wants people to cheer for him.’

Stern also said that Trump is currently on an ‘anti-Hollywood kick’ but claimed the President ‘loves’ Hollywood and the press, CNN reported.

He said: ‘First of all, he loves the press. He lives for it. He loves people in Hollywood. He only wants hobnob with them.

‘All of this hatred and stuff directed towards him. It’s not good for him. It’s not good. There’s a reason every president who leaves the office has grey hair.’

The radio host, who is opposed to Trump’s politics, said he remembered being ‘shocked’ when his friend decided to run for president.

He said that he remembers him ‘being for Hillary Clinton’ and ‘pro-abortion’, adding that ‘the new Donald Trump kind of surprised me.’

Trump has engaged in lewd conversations on Stern’s show over the past two decades, including one in which he agreed that his daughter Ivanka is ‘a piece of a**’.

About two years later in a October 2006 interview, Stern and Trump discussed Ivanka’s breasts on the show.
