All Minnesotans Eligible for Vaccine Starting March 30
On Friday, Governor Walz announced that all Minnesotans 16 years of age and older will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination beginning Tuesday, March 30. The final eligibility expansion comes as the federal government has promised an increased supply of vaccine by April. By expanding eligibility to all Minnesotans, providers across the state will have the flexibility they need to fill appointments and support the state’s most critical goal: to get as many Minnesotans vaccinated as quickly as possible to end this pandemic.
“Minnesotans have done a remarkable job helping our most vulnerable get vaccinated and waiting their turn. Now, as we prepare to receive more vaccine heading into April, it’s time for all Minnesotans to get in line,” said Governor Walz. “Minnesota has been leading the nation in getting shots into arms, and we plan to continue that leadership. By expanding eligibility to all Minnesotans, we will give providers the flexibility they need to keep getting shots into arms quickly, efficiently, and equitably.”
Governor Walz to Deliver State of the State Address on March 28
On Thursday, Governor Walz announced he will deliver his third State of the State address on Sunday, March 28, 2021, beginning at 6:00pm. The address will be delivered from the Governor’s former social studies classroom at Mankato West High School.
The Governor’s State of the State address was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 21, 2021. Following a potential exposure to COVID-19 on Monday, March 17, 2021, the Governor postponed the address to complete a ten-day quarantine per CDC guidance.

Minnesota Ranks First in the Nation in Vaccines Administered
On Tuesday, Governor Walz announced that Minnesota currently ranks first state in the nation for percentage of vaccine distributed administered. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Minnesota has administered 88.55% of vaccine doses it has received, surpassing every other state. Minnesota has consistently ranked in the top ten states for percentage of vaccine doses administered for nearly one month.
Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Highlights Minnesota’s COVID-19 Community Vaccination Program in Worthington
Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan visited a COVID-19 community vaccination event in Worthington to highlight vaccination opportunities for food processing and agriculture workers. On Monday, Governor Walz announced that the State of Minnesota’s COVID-19 Community Vaccination Program is expanding further this week with two temporary vaccination events in Marshall and Worthington.
“The Community Vaccine Program locations in Marshall and Worthington will help us get shots to more Minnesotans who need them – including essential workers whose jobs put them at increased risk of COVID exposure,” Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan said. “Minnesota providers are working hard to get shots to everyone who needs them, and we’re excited to stand up addition Community Vaccination opportunities in southern Minnesota to help make that possible.”
Governor Walz Orders Flags Flown at Half-Staff in Honor of Boulder Shooting Victims
Governor Walz has ordered all Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state buildings effective immediately until sunset on Saturday, March 27, 2021, to honor the ten victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated in Boulder, Colorado, on Monday, March 22, 2021.
“The mass shooting in Boulder, Colorado is heartbreaking and devastating to the Boulder community and the rest of our nation,” said Governor Walz. “We mourn the loss of the victims of this senseless act of violence, and the pain we experience as a nation is only amplified for the friends and families of the victims. Minnesota joins states across the nation to remember and honor the victims whose lives were lost.”
