Gaslighters/Narcissists Can’t Handle Rejection

Gaslighters/narcissists are extremely sensitive to rejection.  Any perceived slight can throw them into a tailspin.  Many times, gaslighters/narcissists will be out for revenge.  One of the most common ways gaslighters/narcissists attack those who reject them is by subjecting them to public humiliation.

U.S. Women’s National team co-captain Megan Rapinoe, when asked if she would accept Trump’s invitation to the White House if the team won the World Cup, said, “I’m not going to the f—— White House.”  An appropriate response from a mature world leader would be for him to not respond.  After all, the First Amendment protects the right of free speech, and as a world leader, it is understood the position comes with a great deal of public scrutiny.  However, a gaslighter/narcissist cannot tolerate someone who rejects them and whom they feel is disloyal – even if the rejection is merited. Rapinoe said, 

Considering how much time and effort and pride we take in the platform that we have, and using it for good, and for leaving the game in a better place and hopefully the world in a better place—I don’t think that I would want to go,” Rapinoe said at a press conference. “I would encourage my teammates to think hard about lending that platform, or having that co-opted by an administration that doesn’t feel the same way and fight for the same things we fight for.”

Several of Rapinoe teammates have publicly supported her stand.  Trump, as he has done with other issues, such as NFL players kneeling during the anthem in protest of police brutality and racial injustice, has wrongly turned it into a rallying cry about patriotismTrump tweeted,
