2020 Primary Election Voting Window Now Open

From today through August 10, you can vote early for the primary election.

Things to Consider this Election Year

With COVID-19, you may be concerned with how you’ll  vote this November. So, think of this year’s primary election as a “dry run” for the general election. In Minnesota you have several options:

  • Vote early by mail. You can find out more about how to do this as well as request a ballot here.
  • Vote early in person. You can find your nearest location to do this here.
  • Vote on primary election day, Tuesday, August 11

We have several races in CD3 where our endorsed DFL candidates are facing challenges:

  • Bonnie Westlin in Senate District 34
  • Ann Johnson Stewart in Senate District 44
  • Addie Miller  in Senate District 47
  • Cedrick Frazier in House District 45A
  • DeVonna Pittman in Hennepin County Commission District 1
  • Chris LaTondresse in Hennepin County Commission District 6
  • Kevin Anderson in Hennepin County Commission District 7

You can find a listing of all our candidates here.

Want to Know What’s on Your Ballot?

If you’re voting early in person or on primary election day, you can print out a sample ballot to take with you to vote (either early voting or Election Day) by entering your address here: http://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/

Not Registered to Vote? No Problem!

Minnesota allows registration on Election Day.  Here’s a link to the specifics on what you’ll need to provide to prove you live in the precinct you vote in.

Election Day Voting

Polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.  And, as long as you’re in line by 8:00 PM, you can vote even if you don’t reach the front of the line until after 8:00 PM.  You can find your polling location here.

Your employer must provide time off without losing pay, personal time or vacation time for voting.  Here’s a link to the specifics.  You’ll find a fact sheet there as well as a letter for your employer detailing the laws.

Know Your Rights

You have many rights to vote beyond time off from work, find out more here.
